Suzuki Marine USA completed a 940-mile run from Jacksonville, Fla., to Washington D.C., for the American Boating Congress, which opened yesterday and closes tomorrow. The 26-foot Sea Pro center console is powered with twin Suzuki DF140 outboards burning VP Racing EcoGen 90 to promote the use of sustainable fuels.

“We undertook this voyage in support of NMMA’s initiative to educate and inform the industry, policy makers and the boating public about alternative marine fuels,” George Blakely, Suzuki Marine executive vice president of sales and service, said in a statement. “There are roughly 12 million gasoline powered boats across American today, so these new fuels offer a real opportunity for boaters and the boating industry to make an impact and lessen our environmental footprint.”

The boat logged 941.5 miles and used 479 gallons of EcoGen 90, which translates to just under 2 mpg.

The DF140s were equipped with Suzuki’s now-standard microplastic collecting devices, which are integrated into the cooling system of each outboard. The microplastics collected will be sent sent to Suzuki in Japan for review and analysis.
