Yanmar Marine International announced that it will supply Williams Jet Tenders with engines that run on hydrotreated vegetable oil. The RIBs that will be powered by Yanmar 4JH engines include the DieselJet 415, 445 and 505, as well as the Solas 505.
“Yanmar Marine International is proud to partner with Williams Tenders, a collaboration perfectly aligned with Yanmar’s commitment to sustainability,” YMI director of sales and marketing Floris Lettinga said in a statement.
The environmental benefits of HVO include reduced greenhouse gas emissions, using a renewable energy source and less dependency on fossil fuels. The use of the biofuel also promotes better disposal of waste cooking oils.
“We are committed to finding innovative, sustainable solutions that reduce the direct emissions impact from our factory and our vehicles,” said Sarah Moore, sustainability specialist at Williams Jet Tenders. “By using HVO … we will accelerate our efforts to decarbonize and improve air quality. As we carry our exploratory testing on our products, it will allow us to confirm HVO use in more of our tenders, enabling us to achieve a greater reduction in our carbon footprint.”
