Yamaha reported second-quarter net sales of $8.56 billion (¥1.23 trillion), a 115% increase compared with the same period last year. Net operating income was $994.1 million (¥142.8 billion), a 139% increase.

The company said in a statement that “higher sales from increased shipments of large outboard motors and improved supply of PWCs” contributed to increased profits. Year-over-year outboard retail registrations were down 4% for all engines, but were up 3% for those rated at 200 hp and higher.

The marine segment posted an increase in operating income ratio of 22.8% to $2.09 billion (¥299.8 billion) in the first half of 2023. Watercraft made up $987.54 million (¥141.9 billion) of that, followed by outboards in North America and Europe at $803.1 million (¥115.4 billion), and outboards in other regions at $295.84 million (¥42.5 billion).

In unit net sales by region, North America led the way for marine products at $1.4 billion (¥188.2 billion), followed by Europe at $274.94 million (¥39.5 billion), and others at $246.38 million (¥39.5 billion).
