Yamaha yesterday announced that it received the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s River Guardian Award. The award recognizes Yamaha for its support of the Riverkeeper’s education initiatives through the supply of outboards for its floating-classroom program and scholarships for underserved youth.

“Yamaha’s generous support ensures that our on-the-water education programs operate smoothly, and their involvement provides valuable opportunities for thousands of students and educators to learn about the source of their water supply firsthand,” Jason Ulseth, executive director for Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, said in a statement.

The floating classrooms provide environmental education programs that teach science, ecology, history and math in accordance with STEM goals and state education performance standards. The Riverkeeper operates the program on Lake Lanier and West Point Lake in Georgia.
