Rhode Island-based Confident Captain/Ocean Pros is launching a new training program this fall with the introduction of the Confident Captain Skill Builder series.

The company said the courses are custom-designed, professional development classes for small-craft professional mariners.

Small-craft pros make up the majority of the United States maritime fleet; more than half of all Coast Guard license holders are small-craft professional mariners working on vessels of 100 gross tons or less.

However, training in America is often geared toward large-vessel captains and crews.

Consequently there is a skills-development gap that Confident Captain/Ocean Pros aims to fill with its proprietary professional-grade training courses: the Confident Captain Skill Builder series.

“There is a large demand for the quality training experience amongst small craft professional mariners,” Confident Captain/Ocean Pros president and founder Capt. Kent Dresser said in a statement.

Dresser and Confident Captain/Ocean Pros will again exhibit at the Newport International Boat Show, beginning Thursday. For information, call (401) 849-1257 or email [email protected].
