It’s possible that busy dealers don’t always have the time to recognize their service technicians as often as they should. So, an opportunity to do so is at hand from the American Boat and Yacht Council, and it’s worth your time.
ABYC recently announced that nominations are open for its 2024 Outstanding Technician Awards. A feature of the upcoming International Marine Service Technicians Week, set for Apr. 22 – 26, the event has become an annual celebration that recognizes the essential contribution to maintaining the safety, reliability, and enjoyment of boating service technicians provide.
This year’s awards, sponsored by Yamaha, will honor 10 exceptional technicians with a $100 Visa gift card, a technician special prize pack, and recognition on ABYC’s social media platforms.
“Last year we received more than 80 nominations, prompting us to increase the number of awardees this year,” says Shannon Aronson, ABYC’s public relations and marketing and director. “Throughout the weeklong celebration, we’re eager to recognize an even greater number of technicians this year for their dedication and pursuit of professional excellence.”

MIASF Cleans Up
The Marine Industries Association of South Florida recently attracted more than 1,100 volunteers who donated their time to this year’s Broward County Waterway Cleanup.
The event, now in its 47th year, sends the volunteers cleaning up area waterways, parks and communities along 38 sites throughout the county. Organized annually by MIASF and presented by the Florida Inland Navigational District and Informa Markets, this cleanup is believed to be among the largest and longest-running waterway environmental event of its type in the nation.
The mission? Ensuring residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the local waterways.
Participants helped on both land and sea, with more than 320 volunteer boats and personal watercraft. The group collected more than 17 tons of trash.
As a thank you to all the volunteers, MIASF hosted the Trash Bash, a post-event celebration held at Bradford Marine. Volunteers of all ages gather and fittingly celebrate the day with food, drinks, live music, raffles and more.
