PHOTO COURTESY ABYCThe ABYC Foundation yesterday recognized Washburn’s Boat Yard, MJM Yachts, Massachusetts Marine Trades Association and Michigan Boating Industries Association for providing scholarships to teachers who are interested in attending the foundation’s Marine Service Educator Training Conference in Annapolis, Md., July 20-21.
The two-day event caters to high school and post-secondary educators who are actively teaching or considering offering marine service technology courses in their schools, according to a statement.
“One of the most effective ways to find new hires for your facility, shop or yard is to become actively engaged with your local school and to hire their graduates,” said ABYC Foundation executive director Margaret Podlich in the statement. “Many of these teachers are paying their own way to register. This is a great way for industry to support the educators who are training your future hires.”
The conference will tackle subjects such as how people learn, the current state of the marine industry, training aids for boat-related systems, the foundation’s Marine Trades Accreditation Program as well as other topics.
Registration for the event is open online here.
