Summary

The Regional Sales Representative is responsible for developing and closing sales of RHIB-style patrol and rescue vessels to municipal, county, and state government agencies, primarily marine patrol, law enforcement, fire-rescue, and public safety departments.  Sales efforts will also include commercial sales to private companies.

This is a “hunter” role built around a disciplined, high-volume outbound prospecting cadence — proactively calling on government agencies within an assigned territory — supplemented by inbound leads from the company website and opportunities developed at industry conferences and trade shows. The successful candidate will sustain consistent, high-volume prospecting activity with minimal oversight, and will be highly comfortable with relationship-based selling, product demonstrations, long sales cycles, and public-sector procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Manage and qualify inbound leads generated from the company website and marketing campaigns
  • Proactively identify, contact, and develop relationships with municipal, county, and state marine patrol and public safety agencies
  • Conduct a disciplined outbound prospecting cadence (phone, email, in-person visits) to targeted agencies within the assigned territory, sustaining consistent weekly call and touch volume as the primary driver of pipeline growth
  • Attend and represent the company at regional and national marine patrol, law enforcement, and public safety conferences and events
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with command staff, fleet managers, procurement officers, and marine unit supervisors
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and opportunity tracking in the company CRM system, and report weekly prospecting activity as a leading indicator of pipeline health

Product Demonstrations and Consultative Selling

  • Conduct in-water and dockside vessel demonstrations for prospective agencies
  • Work with customers to understand mission requirements and recommend appropriate vessel configurations and options
  • Coordinate demo logistics, scheduling, and follow-up activities
  • Serve as a technical and operational resource for customers throughout the sales process

Public Sector and Commercial Purchasing Process

  • Support customers through public-sector purchasing processes, including RFPs, RFQs, and sole-source justifications where applicable
  • Prepare pricing, proposals, and sales documentation in coordination with sales administration and management
  • Negotiate commercial terms within approved guidelines and close sales to meet or exceed regional revenue targets

Territory and Account Management

  • Develop and execute a regional sales plan aligned with company goals
  • Maintain regular contact with existing customers to support repeat business, fleet expansion, and referrals
  • Gather market intelligence, competitive information, and customer feedback and share insights with management

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably selling to government, public safety, or mission-critical customers
  • Proven success building a self-generated pipeline through outbound prospecting in a field-based or territory sales role — not dependent on inbound leads alone
  • Strong ability to build trust and credibility with law enforcement, marine patrol, or public safety professionals
  • Comfortable with travel (typically 40–60%) including conferences, demos, and customer visits
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly self-motivated with the discipline to sustain a high-volume, consistent prospecting cadence over a long sales cycle without close supervision
  • Coachable and responsive to structured onboarding, activity coaching, and ongoing pipeline and performance reviews

Preferred

  • Experience selling boats, marine equipment, vehicles, or other capital equipment to government agencies
  • Familiarity with RHIBs, patrol boats, or marine operations
  • Hands-on boat operation experience
  • Law enforcement, first responder, or military experience
  • Understanding of public-sector procurement, bid processes, and grant-funded purchases
  • CRM experience (Hubspot, Salesforce or similar)

Salary
