The annual Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show starts today and runs through Sunday at the City Dock in Annapolis.
This year’s lineup includes more than 70 sailboats in the water and on-land, including the new Beneteau Oceanis 46.1. Attendees can also see the new Bavaria C57 — the largest model in the company’s new performance cruisers line, which was designed by Maurizio Cossutti, in the Performance Yacht Sales fleet.
Among the events to see are the Annapolis Annual Junior Keelboat Regatta, in which regional high-school teams compete. VIP access will be available to a lounge with upscale cuisine and wine, spirits and beer sponsored by L&H Finance. The Entertainment Plaza will have live music and drink tastings.
There will also be classes and four daily seminars. First Sail Workshop is designed for novice sailors to learn the basics in a 45-minute classroom session and then participate in a 90-minute on-water class with American Sailing Association accredited instructors. The instructors will be provided by Sailtime and Freedom Boat Club.
The Cruisers University curriculum offers a range of cruising topics and courses will include marine-weather forecasting, navigation techniques, diesel-engine maintenance, heavy-weather sailing, budgeting and more. Chesapeake Bay Magazine will offer free one-hour seminars daily. Annapolis School of Seamanship’s captains will explain how to get a captain’s license, discuss the best mobile apps and show how to make docking easier.
This year’s show marks the first annual Boat Maryland Week celebrations, supported by the Annapolis Boat Shows, Visit Annapolis and Marine Trades Association of Maryland.
