FORT LAUDERDALE — Representatives of nearly two dozen marine companies participated in the Active Interest Media Marine Group’s annual Editors Open House event Wednesday on the eve of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The event, now in its third year, was created to give firms direct access to the decision-makers at AIM publications. Participating companies this year included Bertram, FLIR/Raymarine, KVH and Evinrude.
“Since FLIBS is a business-to-consumer show, rather than have our editors simply walking the docks and hoping to start conversations with exhibitors trying to sell to consumers, we’re able to have deeper one-on-one discussions with key industry players,” said George Sass Jr., editor-in-chief of Power & Motoryacht and editorial director of the AIM Marine Group. “Ultimately the Editors Open House is designed to make communication easier for these companies and more productive for us.”
Sass said relationships formed during these private meetings can benefit all parties in the months after the show. “Just as these companies are planning new products, our publications are planning content 12 months in advance,” he said.
Publications in the AIM Marine Group include Anglers Journal, PassageMaker, Power & Motoryacht, Sail, Soundings, Soundings Trade Only and Yachts International.
The Fort Lauderdale show opens today and will continue through Monday.
