The Newport Exhibition Group announced the retirement of Nancy Piffard, the longtime director of the Newport International Boat Show in Rhode Island.

“After celebrating NIBS’ 50th anniversary, it felt like the right time for me to leave the show in the team’s capable hands,” said Piffard, who has led NIBS for the last 20 years. “To everyone I have worked with — my co-workers, exhibitors, sponsors and partners — I want to thank you for your trust and confidence in me over the years. I have met so many amazing people in the marine industry who I will truly miss seeing every September.”

Piffard will remain in a consulting role until early spring, helping her replacement, senior sales manager Lisa Knowles.

“I am grateful for all that Nancy has brought to the show over the years,” Knowles said. “She has been a fantastic leader, mentor and friend, and we wish her all the best in her much-deserved retirement.”

Last year, Piffard was recognized as a Women of Distinction honoree by the Newport Chamber of Commerce, and the team has been the recipients of numerous accolades, including the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association’s Anchor Award.

With Piffard’s retirement, Newport Exhibition Group said account executive Michea Kiely will take on an increased sales role, with marketing director Jocelyn Emory overseeing show marketing, communications, programming, seminars and more. The team also added Colleen Hopkins as event and sales assistant, with Gail Lowney Alofsin continuing to supervise obtaining show sponsors and partners.

This year’s Newport International Boat Show is slated for Sept. 15-18.
