With in-person boat shows returning in force, Trawlerfest pivots from last year’s successful digital events with its debut in Newport, R.I., the first of several TrawlerFest events that will run through the fall.
The signature event of Passagemaker magazine, Trawlerfest will take place Aug. 24-28 at Newport Shipyard, with seminars to be held nearby at the Newport Marriott. (Passagemaker and Soundings Trade Only are published by Active Interest Media.)

“We’re so excited to be hosting our first in-person Trawlerfest event in over a year this summer,” said Passagemaker editor-in-chief Andrew Parkinson. “Most of us are eager to finally get back out on the docks at a real boat show. And in the new location of Newport — rife with its legendary maritime ambiance —we’re anticipating one of our most extraordinary Trawlerfest events yet.”
Parkinson said the in-water show will showcase dozens of new coastal and long-range cruising boats, with a revamped seminar series that includes such topics as maintaining a powerboat with master mechanic Steve Zimmerman, foul-weather navigation, offshore cruising safety and how to choose the perfect boat for your specific cruising needs.
