Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing, based in Davie, Fla., has been named a Top Ten Business of the Year by the business-networking platform Alignable. More than 300,000 votes were cast, with thousands giving the long-standing the LLGF program well-deserved accolades for its successful record of introducing women to fishing.

LLGF conducts multiple events in various regions of Florida, all designed for women to learn, practice and experience fishing, on charter boats and on land. Nearly 10,000 women from around the country have participated since Betty Bauman founded LLGF in 1997. It is the largest organization of its kind.

Dubbed the “No-Yelling School of Fishing,” all LLGF programs are immersive, educational sessions held in Florida. Each features classroom presentations, hands-on practice, networking and, of course, fishing. No equipment or experience is necessary to attend an LLGF program. The organization also offers fishing experiences and international trips.

The overall series encompasses offshore, inshore, beach and bass fishing. One event in the Florida Keys at Islamorada includes a casual tournament with prizes. Regardless of the program, the mission is steadfast: to enable the underserved market of women to enter the sport of fishing.

“Fishing unites all ages and backgrounds, with participants ranging from teens to seniors and from a variety of ethnic origins,” Bauman says. “I have witnessed a passion for fishing awakened in so many women and their family members at our programs. It’s amazing.”

Some of the comments that came in during the voting tell the story:

“Great way to meet other ladies who like to fish.”

“Caught the most fish, my biggest fish, even caught and released a sailfish”:

And here’s my all-time favorite:

“Because fishing ain’t just for guys!”

My wife, Kay, would yell Amen to that.

Many dealers have recommended their customers attend an LLGF event. Indeed, some have even paid the registration fee for their top customers, a great customer-relations move.

The remaining events on the LLGF calendar:

• Sept. 20-21: Guy Harvey Outpost Bass Seminar & Tournament at Camp Mack, Lake Wales

• Oct. 18-20: Keys Saltwater Weekend Seminar and Fishing at Islamorada

• Nov. 23-24: St. Augustine Surf Fishing Academy

Virtual meetings are periodically offered, as well.
