The Anacortes Boat & Yacht Show, which includes Trawlerfest, opens tomorrow for three days in this popular year-round boating community.

Anacortes is dubbed the “center of the boating universe in the Pacific Northwest,” and is rated one of the region’s best escapes. It’s located on Fidalgo Island in the Skagit River basin, the largest of the Puget Sound basins.

A unique boat show location with a big draw, the Anacortes region is home to the San Juan Islands, along with top-rated food, drink, shopping and outdoor experiences. At 80 miles north of Seattle, it’s considered the cruising gateway to the San Juan Islands, Canada and beyond.

The show is held downtown, where in-water boats are displayed at Cap Sante Marina and trailerable boats are adjacent to the marina entrance. Additional displays and inventory can be found at nearby boatyards and dealerships, all accessed by shuttles.

The show annually features more than 200 new and preowned boats of all sizes from builders, dealers and brokers. An extensive slate of seminars covering everything from maintenance to long-range cruising destinations, plus a series of rendezvous evening activities, round out the offerings.

The Trawlerfest portion of the show began Tuesday, with more than 25 seminars and clinics over a five-day period at nearby Seafarer Memorial Park and Skagit Valley College Marine Technology Center.

Anacortes is situated between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia, and draws show-goers from throughout the region. The show is produced by the Northwest Marine Trade Association.
