West Marine said it is looking for marine-focused nonprofits in the Hilton Head area of South Carolina to participate in a BlueFuture “All Day Give Back” community day on Sept. 30.

The event will be held in conjunction with the grand-opening celebration for the retailer’s new Hilton Head Island location at 430 William Hilton Parkway and will take place at the store.

In a statement, West Marine said it is “eager to work with Hilton Head-area charities that serve the local boating, fishing, paddling, sailing and marine environmental communities.” Selected charities will be provided tickets to sell for the event and have the opportunity to host informational tables during the event.

Purchasing a $10 tickets will allow attendees to enjoy food, beverages, live entertainment, giveaways, hands-on activities and more. All of the proceeds collected from tickets will be split among the selected local participating nonprofits.

Additionally, 10 percent of store sales (up to $5,000) on Sept. 30 will be donated to participating charities, as well as West Marine’s nonprofit BlueFuture fund.

Twice each year, BlueFuture provides grant money to nonprofit organizations dedicated to giving young people access to the water through boating, fishing, water sports, boatbuilding, conservation and marine science programs.
