The International Organization for Standards has named Craig Scholten chair of the group’s TC 188 Small Craft committee for 2021 to 2023.

Scholten is the technical vice president of the American Boat and Yacht Council. ISO TC 188 groups are responsible for creating and developing small craft documents used in the design, construction and testing of recreational boats up to 79 feet long. Experts from around the world assist in developing the standards.

“As a marine manufacturer that uses both ABYC and ISO standards, having the proper leadership in marine standards development is vital to our industry,” Dave Marlow, Brunswick Corporations’ product integrity/government affairs director, said in a statement. “Craig Scholten’s appointment to the chair of TC 188 could not have come at a better time and his deep background in standards development and application makes him a clear choice for the job — he will do an outstanding job representing the global marine industry.”

Scholten is also the chair of the U.S. technical advisory group. ABYC is the American National Standards Institute accredited representative for US positions on activities and ballots relates to ISO TC 188.
