As part of several organizational changes within North America’s leading participant media company, Active Interest Media announced the promotion of Gary DeSanctis to president of the Marine Group.

“Gary continues to innovate, with nonstop new products and services,” said AIM CEO Andy Clurman, who called the structural changes the “next step in accelerating our already-successful evolution of the publishing model.”

Soundings Trade Only is owned by AIM.

The brands within the AIM Marine Group are Power & Motoryacht, Sail, Yachts International, Anglers Journal, Soundings, PassageMaker, Outboard, Soundings Trade Only and Anglers Journal TV.

“I’m gratified by the talent and depth of the people we’ve assembled within the Marine Group,” said DeSanctis, a marine publishing veteran who previously held the title of general manager. “Our editorial and sales teams have expertise in print, digital, TV, events and more. With all the changes taking place, it’s an exciting time to be in media and the boating business.”

DeSanctis has been instrumental in Marine Group acquisitions and startups, including Anglers Journal and Outboard brands.

Respected in the industry for its deeply passionate audiences, diverse platform mix and constant innovation, AIM will now be organized around four distinct market categories.

“By combining seven operating groups into four, and by elevating proven leaders to roles of greater authority,” Clurman said, “we will streamline our product development cadence and ensure a disciplined focus on our key initiatives — consumer and marketing memberships, event growth, marketing services and video.”

AIM’s four groups are the Active Living Group, Home Group, Marine Group, and Equine Group.
