U.K.-based Arksen, a pioneer in sustainable vessel design, and RAD Propulsion, a manufacturer of electric and autonomous propulsion systems also based in the U.K., announced a partnership to develop boats for the recreational, commercial and defense sectors. The collaboration will pair Arksen’s vessel design with RAD’s electric drive and autonomy systems.

“This is a big leap,” Arksen founder Jasper Smith said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to join forces with RAD Propulsion, whose innovation in power and autonomy aligns perfectly with our mission to craft more sustainable, resilient marine systems. Together, we’re creating vessels that will lead the market, from ocean tourism to tactical operations.”

The statement said the partnership will bring to market a “revolutionary class of clean, intelligent and highly proficient marine craft.” Arksen and RAD will start with three projects: a rugged inflatable, a new RIB, and custom variations for autonomous patrol boats, tactical vessels and U.S. market pontoons.
