The Coast Guard and the American Boat and Yacht Council yesterday announced the date for the second installment of the online Risk Mitigation Series. “Put the Fire Out!” is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. (Eastern time) May 17 and will concentrate on fire suppression systems, standards and requirements.

Professionals who create and enforce fire suppression standards, as well as manufacturers and experts on the subject, will host online roundtable discussions at no cost to virtual attendees.

“These roundtables will focus on the regulations and approval ratings for emerging technology, as well as how manufacturers, inspectors and investigators can be certain they are up to speed with new guidelines and standards,” Jeff Ludwig, chief of the Recreational Boating Product Assurance Branch of the Cost Guard’s Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety, said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Coast Guard on this second installment of the Risk Mitigation Series,” ABYC president John Adey said in the statement. “With presenters representing the regulatory and testing agencies alongside manufacturers and inspectors, we expect both the attendees and the panelists to walk away with new insights and some practical knowledge.”
