Multiple outlets are reporting that the Cannes Yachting Festival — scheduled for Sept. 8-13 — has been canceled.
There is not yet an official word from event organizer Reed Exhibitions.
Reed had applied for special permitting to hold the show, in the wake of the latest move from the French government that extends a ban of mass gatherings of more than 5,000 people through the end of October.
France is seeing a spike in Covid-19 cases — up to 4,700 per day, the first time more than 4,000 daily cases have been seen since May.
The Cannes event attracts about 50,000 visitors per year from around the world.
