The Sport Fishing Championship announced a multiyear agreement wherein the CBS Sports Network will televise SFC tournaments, beginning with the first regular-season event from Grand Isle, La., April 28-30.

The agreement includes two hours of final-day coverage on CBS Sports from the SFC’s 12 regular-season events. The coverage culminates with a season-ending championship from Puerto Rico.

“This is a historic day for championship fishing,” SFC CEO and commissioner Mark Neifeld said in a statement. “Teaming up with CBS Sports to televise competitive saltwater angling will be the catalyst that elevates the sport to new heights.”
CBS Sports Network will also televise 30-minute highlight programs.

“The adrenaline and exhilaration of having a billfish on the line are unmatched in sports, and we are bringing our viewers right into the action and on board with competitors,” Neifeld said. “The telecasts on CBS Sports Network will provide new access to the sport for millions of people.”
