The registration fees for the annual DAME Design Awards will again be donated to a marine charity. The period for charities to apply is now open.

“Running the world’s largest leisure marine equipment exhibition provides us with significant opportunities to improve our social, environmental and economic impact within the industry,” Metstrade director Niels Klarenbeek said in a statement. “We want to play our part in improving the leisure marine sector’s social footprint by connecting people with the networks and funds they need to help address the big opportunities and challenges they face.”

The program has been operated since 2008 and has donated $273,483 to charities. Last year, The Magenta Project, a collective working toward equity in sailing with a focus on gender, received $15,590.

“The funds have enabled us to increase our human resources and helped to provide pay for women who have been supporting the project for many years,” said Meg Reilly, chief coordination and engagement officer. “As a direct result, we’ve been able to advance our mentoring program, our volunteer base has grown, and we’ve been able to expand with regional branches such as one in the Asia Pacific region.”

Charities can apply here. The deadline is May 1.
