Electric propulsion manufacturer ePropulsion is establishing ePropulsion USA, a branch office for the Japanese company. Tom Watson, the former general manager of Highfield Boats, was named president of ePropulsion USA.
“The United States is a vital area of business in the marine industry across all sectors, including those of commercial and recreational,” Danny Tao, co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion, said in a statement. “We have made excellent strides in North America and in the United States, and now we want to further focus our efforts on this unique and diverse market.”
Tao said ePropulsion USA will work closely with the company’s distribution network and focus on enhancing customer support. It will also look to foster strategic partnerships with boatbuilders to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in North America.
Prior to his time at Highfield, Watson worked with Torqeedo, Yanmar and other marine companies in the United States.
