Blue Innovations Group has developed an electric boat with solar charging capabilities, the R30. Founded by John Vo, the former head of manufacturing at Tesla, the company said it is “enabling the world’s transition from land to water with sustainable solutions.”
The R30 has dual motors that produce 800 hp, an integrated user interface and solar charging. Pinellas Park, Fla.-based BIG unveiled the boat at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in earlier this month.
“Being at CES has brought BIG out of stealth mode and enabled us to share with the world BIG’s mission and vision,” CEO Vo said in a statement. “Our first product, the R30, will be a revolution to the marine industry by establishing a new level of expectations for boating.”
The company is taking $1,000 reservations for the R30. A $5,000 reservation ensures one of the first 100 boats, according to the statement. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2024.
