PHOTO COURTESY IBEX The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference welcomed 7,500 industry professionals from 70 countries earlier this month.
Held in Tampa, Fla., the show hosted 731 exhibitors, and more than 100 were new to IBEX. Twelve emerging tech companies participated in the new Start-Up Pavilion. In addition, the show welcomed 100 students from five area technical programs as part of a career day, in collaboration with American Boat & Yacht Council.
“Every large event has its challenges, and this year was no different, with severe weather impacting parts of the Southeast and the marine industry facing a tough economic landscape,” show director Mary Velline said in a statement. “IBEX provided a space for industry professionals to connect, share knowledge and learn from one another. It’s this collaboration and shared experience that helps our industry grow stronger and more innovative, even in challenging times.”
Show highlights include a sold-out industry breakfast with a keynote address by Charlie Cook, founder of the Cook Political Report. Thirteen innovation award winners were named, along with five honorable mentions from more than 80 entries.
IBEX next year is scheduled for Oct. 7-9 at the Tampa Convention Center in Florida.
