GLBBS PHOTOPlymouth, Mich.-based engine manufacturer Ilmor Engineering donated educational and technical supplies, including engines, to the Great Lakes Boat Building School in Cedarville, Mich.
The equipment will expand hands-on learning in the school’s marine service/technology program. Ilmor Marine also is certifying the school’s faculty as part of the Ilmor University curriculum.
“Our graduates are encountering Ilmor’s outstanding offering of marine engines in their work at marine dealers around the country,” GLBBS president Nikki Storey said in a statement. “An educational partnership with Ilmor Engineering has been on our wish list for quite some time because our students need to know how to work on their equipment as they encounter it on the job.”
In addition to donating the engines and equipment, Ilmor hosted GLBBS students, instructors and staff members at its Plymouth headquarters earlier this year.
“We have enjoyed the opportunity to interact with Nikki and the members of her leadership team, and are impressed with their industry-leading curriculum in preparing students with real-world technical expertise,” Mike Lindberg, Ilmor vice president of marine, said in the statement.
