International Yacht Collection opened a new office in Palm Beach, Fla., and chose broker Bill Sanderson and office manager Rachel Finkbeiner to head up the location.
“Welcoming Bill Sanderson and Rachel Finkbeiner to IYC with the debut of our Palm Beach location marks a significant occasion in the evolution of our firm,” IYC president Bob Saxon said in a statement. “Bill’s yachting experience and singular way with clients is unparalleled in our business, while the long-standing partnership between him and Rachel creates a seamless client experience with regard to handling the administrative aspects of yacht management.”
Sanderson, who began racing at age 8, raced, delivered and maintained I.O.R. race yachts, sailing more than 75,000 miles around the world. In 1976 he retired from ocean racing and joined Ardell Yacht and Ship Brokers. In 1983 he joined Nautical Development Corp. as president, building 56-, 60- and 62-foot sailboats.
Sanderson rejoined yacht brokerage in 1985 with Gilman Yachts in Palm Beach, and in 2003 he joined Camper & Nicholsons, establishing its U.S. base of operations. He sold many modern sailboats during his tenure at CNI and designed and managed superyacht projects.
Finkbeiner joined Gilman Yacht Sales in the 1980s before opening a Camper & Nicholsons office in Palm Beach with Sanderson at the request of Nick Edmiston. The team stayed with CNI from 1992 until 2011, growing that firm to locations in Fort Lauderdale, Miami and New York. Edmiston again approached them to start an Edmiston & Co. office. That venture lasted until April of this year, when they joined IYC.
