Mercury Marine entered an agreement with Jing-Jin Electric, a China-based electric propulsion system and components supplier. The partnership is intended to enhance Mercury’s goal of advancing its electrified products and broaden JJE’s reach across several industries.

“We are excited to engage with JJE as we co-develop and produce the next evolution of high voltage propulsion systems for marine and broaden our ACES [autonomy, connectivity, electrification and shared access] strategy globally,” Perissa Bailey, Mercury Marine vice president of e-solutions, said in a statement. “JJE has a rich history of working with established companies within the automotive industry globally, and we are looking forward to this new partnership.”

JJE has production facilities in Farmington Hills, Mich.; and Shandong and Shanghai, China. Mercury hopes to leverage JJE’s capabilities in noise vibration and harshness, hydrodynamics, propellers and controls.

“This long-term partnership will establish both companies’ leading position in this new electric drive space,” Scott Taylor, general manager of JJE North America in Farmington Hills, Mich., said in the statement. “By combining our capabilities in motor systems, marine propulsion and customer experience, we can set the standard for the industry.”
