The Association of Marine Industries of Eastern Long Island selected three recipients for its 2024 scholarships. Jennifer Luke of Safe Harbor Marinas, Justus Horton of Port of Egypt Marine and Reed Kelsey of Mill Creek Marina each received $1,000 to be used for secondary education expenses.

The association said in a statement that the scholarships are awarded to an employee or direct family member of an AMI member in good standing. Recipients are students who will be attending any post-secondary education program, or currently attend any post-secondary education or vocational program. Applicants must write a one-page essay on a topic chosen by the AMI board of directors. This year’s topic was, “What keeps young people away from boating?”
