Port 32 Jacksonville marina in Florida yesterday announced the completion of a dredging project to open berths closer to shore. The project removed more than 5,700 cubic yards of sediment, deepening slips to an average of 5 feet at mean low water. Previously limited near-shore berths are now fully operational, increasing usable capacity.

“Completing this dredging project is a direct investment in our members and in the long-term quality of Port 32 Jacksonville,” Port 32 Marinas CEO Austin Schell said in a statement. “Removing more than 5,700 cubic yards of material and reopening slips closer to shore means more access, more flexibility and a more enjoyable experience on the water.”

The dredging required the temporary relocation of more than 130 boats, with the local TowBoatUS franchise providing relocation assistance for owners who were not present to move their boats.

Based in Charleston, S.C., Port 32 is an owner, operator, developer and acquirer of marina assets in the Florida and North Carolina markets.
