Organizers announced that the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference will be held as a virtual event in response to the pandemic. The original show dates — Sept. 29-Oct. 1 —remain the same. “The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and partners is our primary concern,” show director Anne Dunbar said in a statement. Programming and other details for “IBEX Online: A Virtual Experience” are under development, including registration particulars.

Actress Naya Rivera, who played one of the lead characters in the television series “Glee,” is presumed dead after she went missing from a rented a pontoon with her 4-year-old son. Rivera had rented the boat on Lake Piru in Southern California, and her toddler was found sleeping on board three hours later, according to The Washington Post. The child, who was wearing a PFD and was unharmed, said he and his mom went swimming but never returned to the boat. An adult PFD was found on the pontoon.

Metstrade organizers are accepting entries for the show’s Dame Design Awards. Open to Metstrade exhibitors, the awards are meant to “promote design across all disciplines and recognize the best-designed products,” organizers said in a statement. The awards are divided into seven categories, with an overall winner named, as well. Use the exhibitor portal to access the application. Entries will be accepted through Sept. 18.
