PHOTO COURTESY RAD PROPULSIONMarine robotics company Ocean Infinity has invested $1.26 million in RAD Propulsion to help the British company ramp up development of the RAD 40 electric outboard.
In the coming year, RAD hopes to make its engines available to OEM partners around the world, including boatbuilders in the United States, Finland, Australia, Spain, Norway and the United Kingdom.
“Our relationship with RAD Propulsion will accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in the marine world — an important step in the transition away from the reliance on fossil fuels,” Oliver Plunkett, CEO of Ocean Infinity, said in a statement.
RAD chief executive officer Dan Hook said he is seeing demand for electric propulsion in the marine segment accelerate. “Ocean Infinity identified RAD’s unique, tech-focused approach, which ideally positions us to deliver boatbuilders, commercial operators and high-end leisure users the solutions they need to reduce their carbon footprint.”
