Paul Hoppes Jr. founded Sailfish Boats in 1986 and was actively involved in day-to-day operations until his retirement in 2020. Sailfish announced that Hoppes died May 12. He was 73.
“Paul’s passion, determination and hands-on approach has been instrumental in Sailfish’s 40 years carried out through numerous dealers, thousands of Sailfish owners, and the hundreds of employees he touched and influenced throughout his time,” the company said in a statement.
Based in Cairo, Georgia, Sailfish designs and builds a range of center and dual console models from 23 to 36 feet.
