Sea Ray yesterday announced the 50th anniversary of its Merritt Island, Fla., manufacturing facility. Now part of the Brunswick Boat Group, Sea Ray began building boats there in 1973 and today employs more than 425 people at Merritt Island.
The facility, known as the Brunswick Integrated Manufacturing Center, produces the Sundancer 370, Sundancer 370 Outboard, SLX 400 and SLX 400 Outboard models.
“It’s quite an achievement to be celebrating 50 years of manufacturing award-winning boats in Merritt Island,” Sea Ray president Keith Yunger said in a statement. “One of our most popular models, the Sundancer, was created here. I’m excited for the future of Sea Ray and the innovative boats that will be built here.”
The factory is managed by Brevard County native Patrick Breckenridge, who joined Brunswick Boat Group as director of operations in 2022.
“It’s clear Sea Ray’s success throughout the past five decades is due to its passionate team of the best boatbuilders in the world,” Breckenridge said in the statement. “Sea Ray and I are both committed to supporting our invaluable employees, as well as the Merritt Island and Brevard County communities, as we work together to begin Sea Ray’s next chapter.”
