The Sea Tow Foundation last week announced the launch of the first online conference for hosts of the organization’s 1,300-plus Life Jacket Loaner Stations. The conference, scheduled for March 5-7, 2024, will include a series of education, networking and community-building sessions for groups involved in the loaner program.
The conference, funded by a grant from the Coast Guard’s Sport Fish Restoration & Boating Trust Fund, aims to provide education, resources and tools to those who maintain and operate loaner stations. Topics span station maintenance, awareness campaigns, PFD fitting, safety protocols, partnerships and volunteer support.
“While our Life Jacket Loaner Program has expanded exponentially, the opportunity to engage, educate and empower our loaner station hosts has been limited. This conference presents a milestone moment to unite hosts, share best practices and strengthen the success of these life- saving stations,” Gail R. Kulp, executive director of the Sea Tow Foundation, said in a statement. “We envision this conference as a catalyst for unified action to save more lives on the water.”

The foundation established the Life Jacket Loaner Program in 2008, and there are stations in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
