The 2022 class of Wakesports Hall of Fame inductees includes participants who popularized the sport before it was a mainstream activity.
In a statement, the hall’s board of directors ratified the 2022 class of inductees, which includes athletes Shawn Watson, Daniel Watkins, Chase Heavener, Melissa Marquardt and Crew Danielo.
In the Innovators category, surfboard shaper and skurfing pioneer Allan Byrne, along with one of wakeboarding’s earliest board shapers Rich Nolan, were honored. The class also includes lifetime achievement recognition for wakeboarder and event organizer Chris Bischoff, while Kelly Kingman and G Bradley were inducted in the media category.
A ceremony honoring the 2022 and ’23 classes, plus previously unrecognized members from prior classes, will be held next year.
