Following on the heels of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which wrapped up Sunday, and an announcement from the National Marine Manufacturers Association that the Miami International Boat Show would be canceled for 2021, organizers have decided to postpone the Miami Yacht Show.
The event, which is co-owned by the International Yacht Broker’s Association and Informa and was slated for Feb. 11-15, runs concurrently with MIBS and is held at One Herald Plaza in downtown Miami.
“This is the first time in our 33-year history we have been faced with circumstances that have caused us to reschedule the Miami Yacht Show,” said Andrew Doole, Informa Markets U.S. boat shows general manager and vice president, in a statement.
“We have a commitment to our exhibitors and attendees to provide a valuable and productive face-to-face experience at the Miami Yacht Show each year,” said Doole. “As our key focus continues to be the improvement of the experience for our entire community, we are hopeful that we will be able to host an event later in the year, but we have to make that decision collectively with our community.”
Informa and IYBA said that they are looking into holding a show later in the year after talks with exhibitors, and added that last week’s successful FLIBS can help organizers better understand what customers are seeking.
