U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will keynote the Innovation Breakfast at the Miami International Boat Show on Feb. 16.
The National Marine Manufacturers Association, which owns and produces the show, and the association’s partners in the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable have been working with Zinke to explore enhancing boating and fishing access.
A supporter of boating and fishing, Zinke recently announced the creation of a Recreation Advisory Committee to help explore how to improve outdoor recreational opportunities for Americans.
“It’s our honor to welcome Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke to the 2018 Miami International Boat Show as keynote speaker and to witness firsthand the impact and forward-thinking of America’s recreational boating and fishing industry,” said NMMA president Thom Dammrich in the NMMA newsletter Currents.
“The Secretary has demonstrated his commitment to ensuring Americans have robust access to our public lands and waters and has worked to create a dialogue with the outdoor community to understand our priorities. His keynote is an opportunity to hear directly from the secretary as he shares his perspective on boating and the outdoors,” Dammrich said.
The Innovation Breakfast will include several presentations.
Show manager Larry Berryman will welcome attendees, and Dammrich will give opening remarks and hand out CSI awards.
A VIP guest speaker is to be announced.
Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation president Frank Peterson will give a presentation focused on consumer trends to recruit new anglers.
Kris Mayer, general director of GM wholesale, marine and industrial sales, will discuss GM Marine Engine Technology in the boating industry.
Awards to be handed out include the Chapman Award, the Alan J. Freedman Memorial Leadership Award and the Miami International Boat Show Innovation Awards.
The breakfast is presented by GM Marine Engine Technology and the RBFF, with support from Enterprise Florida. The show runs Feb. 15-19.
