A new faster-drying, easier-to-apply metallic topcoat from Awlgrip hit the market this fall.

Available in hundreds of custom colors, Awlcraft SE is designed to work as one layer of a multipart system, says David Halcomb, Awlgrip senior vice president of global business development. Awlcraft SE imparts the color and effect, and Awlcraft 2000 clear coat provides a durable, high-gloss finish, he says. Awlcraft SE dries in 10 minutes between coats, Halcomb says. The new product will allow applicators to avoid “tiger striping,” which occurs when a metallic paint is applied unevenly, causing areas of lighter and deeper color. Pricing is available from local Awlgrip dealers. Contact: Awlgrip North America, (888) 355-3090. www.awlgrip.com
