The Progressive Chicago Boat, RV and Sail Show opens today and is celebrating its 90th anniversary. The show, which includes more than 700 boats and recreational vehicles on display, runs through Sunday at McCormick Place.
Among the attractions at the show is the Discover Boating Experience, an educational marketplace where guests can participate in short-form seminars, explore new products, learn boat-care tips, discover new technologies and learn how to navigate.
At the Progressive Insurance Boathouse, attendees can take the helm of a virtual raceboat in an Oculus Rift virtual reality experience. The Annapolis School of Seamanship will offer an array of hands-on courses, including “Docking De-Stress” and “10 Steps to Being a Good Gilligan.”
Organizers this year are offering $5 admission after 5 p.m. on Thursday, along with $5 hot dogs, pizza, beer and wine.
Show hours are 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Single-day admission is $15; kids 12 and younger are free. Tickets can be purchased here.
