The Global Marine Business Advisors appointed Veda Pretorius chairperson. A GMBA consultant from South Africa, Pretorius takes over for David Lewin, who will continue with the organization as vice president.
Pretorius has been a GMBA member since 2020, based in Cape Town. In early June, she was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the South African Boat Builders Export Council. She was instrumental in developing the industry group SABBEX/Boating South Africa.
“I have worked with Veda on several projects, and she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to GMBA,” MaryAnne Edwards, a GMBA member, said in a statement. “Her broad-based understanding of the South African boatbuilding, marina and superyacht sectors are extremely valuable to GMBA, and the projects we have worked on will assist in the ongoing development of the industry there.”
The international presence of GMBA extends to 18 countries, and Pretorius will be tasked with moving the organization into its next stage of development. In the past three years, GMBA has focused on working with businesses that want to expand their marine-export markets.
