Last week, The National Sailing Hall of Fame hosted a virtual celebration of its 10th annual inductees. The sailors, who were announced in June, were honored by a cast of former Hall of Famers, as well as dignitaries including Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., U.S. Sailing president Cory Sertl, Mystic Seaport Museum president and CEO Steve White, and Herreshoff Marine Museum founder Halsey Herreshoff. “In these challenging times we were delighted by the response to our virtual induction ceremony. Hall of Famers, sponsors and guests rose to the occasion to make this year’s induction very memorable one for our sailing heroes,” said NSHOF president Gus Carlson in a statement. The Sailing Museum is set to open in 2022 in Newport.
Wholesalers Marine Equipment & Supply Company (MESCO) and Seacoast Distributors have named Paul Sebesta as regional sales representative. Sebesta — who is an avid boater — has worked as a distributor sales rep for nearly two decades and will service the 110-year old company’s Long Island clients, as well as look to increase sales in his territory. “I am confident that Paul will be an excellent fit for this position and a strong asset to the Seacoast sales team…dealers will benefit from Paul’s wealth of knowledge and experience,” said Don Zabransky, director of sales and business development in a statement.
President Donald Trump has vowed to loosen restrictions on the sale of higher-ethanol fuel blends like E15, drawing sharp objections from the recreational boating community. Once final, the policy change would allow E15 to be dispensed from pumps made for lower-biofuel blends, including E10, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, which has asked the administration to reverse the decision. The proposal would flood the marketplace with the dangerous and environmentally destructive E15, make E10 more scarce, and put hundreds of millions of American consumers at risk, according to the NMMA.
