The American Boat & Yacht Council said that registration for Standards Week is open. The conference is scheduled for Jan. 9-13 in New Orleans.

“Standards Week brings a wide range of industry stakeholders together to review and improve boating safety standards,” Pete Chisholm, Mercury Marine product safety manager and ABYC technical board chair, said in a statement. “It has the added benefit of allowing an environment to build collaborative relationships across the industry.”

The week is dedicated to Project Technical Committee meetings to discuss updates to Supplement 63 of ABYC’s Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft, to be published in July 2023.

Events include ABYC’s annual meeting, a regional training seminar and a standards certification course.

“[Project Technical Committees] are comprised of over 400 industry professionals with a vested interest in ensuring the standards reflect what they experience, are researching and what they envision for the future,” said ABYC technical director Brian Goodwin. “The annual ABYC standards supplement requires input from those who understand where the industry is headed.”

PTCs conducting meetings during Standards Week includes:

• Firefighting and Detection Systems

• Electrical

• Fuel and Ventilation

• Control Systems
