Simrad Yachting has agreed to provide electronics for Marine Products Corp. brands Chaparral and Robalo.

Starting with the 2021 model year, the Norwegian-based manufacturer — part of the marine electronics conglomerate Navico — will be the only option on 27 Chaparral models and Robalo’s complete model line of 22 boats.

On some vessels, Simrad MFDs, sonar, radar and autopilots will be standard equipment, including Robalo’s soon to be launched flagship, the R360 center console, and its largest dual console, the R317.

Ten Chaparrals will be fitted with standard Simrad electronics suites: Surf 25 and 29, SSX 277, 297, 317, 347, and the Suncoast 230, 250 and the OSX 280, 300.

“These state-of-the-art Simrad displays and accessories are ideal for Robalo and Chaparral’s line of powerboats,” said Chaparral and Robalo engineering vice president Mike Fafard in a statement. “Simrad’s rich history of innovation is the primary reason we’ve chosen these systems. From the design aesthetic to the user-friendly functionality, Simrad perfectly matches our manufacturing process.”

Full integration with Yamaha and Mercury outboard engines and Fusion Marine sound systems provide an ease of operation, obviates the need for multiple displays and allows builders to outfit boats with a clean, uncluttered helm.

“Chaparral and Robalo are well-known manufacturers of high-quality sport boats,” said Navico CEO Knut Frostad. “We are proud to have our feature-rich navigation systems installed on these vessels, and we are confident this partnership is going to help Chaparral/Robalo customers have a more enjoyable time on the water.”
