Capt. Darren Shute, a 25-year lobsterman, purchased TowBoatUS Castine in Maine from the estate of Capt. Bill Stevenson, the previous owner, who died last October.
He is joined in the business by his wife, Penni, and Capt. Dick Horan, who has been operating TowBoatUS Castine’s 26-foot response vessel and remains with the company.
“I want to thank Bill’s daughters Hanna and Olivia and their mother, Jody, for their graciousness and confidence in me to provide the same trusted service for boaters that Bill did,” Shute said in a statement.
The TowBoatUS Castine response vessel will be based at Stockton Springs Harbor and will provide services up to 25 miles offshore.
